I read somewhere that your headache from hangovers actually comes when your blood-alcohol level reaches zero, and it's not just dehydration. Something about the rate at which you sober-up from the drunken-stuper has more to do with the size of your hangover than how much you drank in the first place.
Drinking heeps of water befroe bed not only hydrates you, but slows down the rate at which the alcohol in your stomach enters your system, and therefore, the rate at which you sober-up.
