In case you missed the discussion in my last blog post, poachninja.com is now live in the sense that it is open to be viewed by the public and others can join. However we have decided not to start an intense promotion campaign yet. For the moment its enough to have good interested people join and build content as the season approaches. So refer the site to friends that you think should be here and make an effort to submit content, like a picture every week, a blog post, a wiki entry/edit. It all piles up pretty fast in a month or two if we each add something quality each week. This is also still a testing period where problems are sorted and improvements made, but hopefully the bulk of my work (about 120 hours over 2 solid weeks) is over for a while.
Without sounding like a tool, remember that Japan really does need a community like this and that it wont happen without it being community built.
Get into it.
ps - don't be afraid to upload any previous TR's etc. If any photogs wont their own Albums to exclusively show their stuff then that could be set up as well.

Topo Album
I can set that up for you no problems. But you gotta genuinely use it. Nothing worse than loads of Albums for specific content that go empty. Would you want it to be a general topo Album, or Tsonda's Topo Album that only you can add to? If we go down the path of Albums for specific regions then we will end up with way too many making browsing Album content a hassle. I think all topo content should be in the same Album, so someone can ad a a topo graphic for Hakuba to the same Album that has topo for other regions. Then each topo graphic can be tagged with the region etc just like it is now.
For wiki a general topo
For wiki a general topo album would be just fine. I want to be able to upload somewhere big size picks and link them to wiki, with a thumbnail pic or something, ie the way big sized files are linked in wikipedia too.
For general pics though, like picks meant for TR for example, I would prefer if I was able to have my own gallery under My Stuff. Like there is My Site, My Posts, My blog, My Indox, My profile add also My Pics or something. If we were able to manage My pics by creating albums etc would be great.
Personal albums are possible...
...but the Album plugin I am using is a bit easy to stuff up if many users all start making their own Albums. I could modify it to make it more robust, however that means a compromise in another area (although not huge). I have not investigated a 'My Albums' link in the personal menu yet. Its not quite as easy as it sounds.
Whilst I think its a great idea and would provide stoke, I also think that really good free album management services already exist - like snowjapan.com, Picasa (Google) and Flikr. They allow total user customisation and importantly don't use poachninja storage. I can also embedded/integrate Picasa and Flikr into the engine that runs poachninja.com. It will take me some time to get a feel for the functionality of that kind of integration. I favour this approach along side a simple set of Albums as we already have that are grouped broadly into like themes (General Stoke, Sticker Stoke, Poaching Stoke)
I'd rather get it right and also reduce stress, so will be taking my time to sort out and compare the alternatives. Therefore, don't hope for personal albums anytime soon.
It would be reasonably easy for me to include a search function where you can create a list of all the pictures you have contributed.
Then just make a topo map
Then just make a topo map album for the time being. Its better to have all the maps together.
By the way, how big is the server PN is hosted? Are we talking in Giga or in Tera?
