You don't need to prove you

You don't need to prove you have a parking space in Hakuba, at least I didn't.

Buying a car is a hassle as registration requires you to prove that you live at the address you register the car at. This is a PITA. Online car buying in Hakuba... not sure there are any. Getting a car isn't that hard. Registration and insurance is.

All cars in Japan are

All cars in Japan are supposed to have proof of a parking space except for mini cars by which I think they mean below 660cc. Buying a car is a bit of an administrative effort.

There are lots of online car brokers in Japan and I would avoid places where there is snow. A car used where they salt the roads heavily is usually a bit more run down than otherwise. If you have anyone who can help in Japanese this is the biggest online network www.carsensor.net . ANything in English is a rip off.

I know a used Delica going

I know a used Delica going for about $4000. But as FT said - you have to have a residence visa. A gaijin card (which all tourists can get) will not work.

come down to Fussa by Yokota

come down to Fussa by Yokota Airbase. They sell cars dirty cheap down here and insurance process is very easy due to military presence. I got a 97 caldina 4wd for 100,000Yen with very low Kilometers. you can get all sorts of diffrent cars here for cheap cause military use them and need to get rid of them fast when they are leaving the country.
