Our favourite place is here.

Our favourite place is here. The photos are atmospheric, but make it look much darker than it actually is.

Its called Ikesho. Its an old cooking oil merchants that was completely renovated by a famous architect to become a minshuku about ten years ago. The owner said he thinks the original house is about one hundred and twenty years old. You may have seen the same place mentioned on an English website as "a 250 year old inn", but thats simply not true.

Its at Kumanote no Yu about 150m downhill from Oo-yu, the biggest public bath on the main tourist street. Its about 8000 yen p.p for two really great meals and a futon in a tatami room. They don't have a bath, but there are two public ones nearby.
