Thread created for ninjas to share the little things they never knew. Heres a starter I learned today.

Lamborghini wheels are made in Ohio.

I've been reading the

I've been reading the history of the inhabitation of Japan here sadly with the sole purpose of trying to answer HAG's question of why the Kamoshika was not hunted to extinction. http://www2.gol.com/users/hsmr/Content/East%20Asia/Japan/History/roots.h...

I figured the original Japanese (from Korea, after the Ainu) already had agriculture and pigs so they didn't fuck around in the mountains chasing Kamoshika, but that's not the case. The Jomon (2nd inhabitants of Japan), where hunter-gatherers ethnically different to the Ainu or the Modern Japanese (who are essentially from Korea), and they didn't kill all the Kamoshika.

There are only six reasons why large undomesticated animals still in existance are undomesticable. I can't remember all six, but scary is one, too small is one, too agile is one (which i guess the Kamoshika & Kangaroo is), but i don't think there's any animals that are too "untasty" to kill.

Kamoshika would have to be

Kamoshika would have to be one of teh easiets animals to kill i have seen in the wilderness. I could shoot one a week just by walking around behind my house. Wild pig - very hard to find, and tasty. Deer - extict I think, and very tasty.

Anyway, I enjoyed that article. All of it was good to read. But I got a real buzz out of the impact that pottery had on development. Then later it says “More than 10,000 year after the invention of pottery…”

Could you imagine some future writings that say “10,000 years after the invention of the internet…”

It makes me excited to think of it.

Although, 'back then' it took 500 years for rice paddy technology to get from Kyushu to Tokyo. What was 10,000 years is now 10 days.

Learned something

I thought I read somewhere that the Japanese were more closely related genetically to North American natives ( Navajo I think) than any other Asian peoples! SNP, is this not so?

On another note. My new deer rifle is already sighted in, and I could easily take a Kamushka from 300 yards. Got a deer with my compound bow last week. Tasty it is! Healthy as well!!!

Also learned

I also learned that the Olympic Games were given to Rio! The full weight of Oprah (significant at times) as well as the "Chosen One", and the White House could not sway the judges. I am really looking forward to the outfits that the women's beach volleyball players will be wearing in Brazil!

I have seen that preacher

I have seen that preacher before and come to the conclusion that he is at best a clever atheist using satire to point out how ludicrous one can be as a biblical literalist (although if so he is doing so without any tact), or a calculating attention whore doing his best to take the most extreme view on sensitive subjects and thus get media attention and maybe even sell something on the side.

I never knew Forum snowboards were made in Afghanistan - per brociety.com:

Forum Seeker Snowboard

Seek and destroy the park terrain on your twintip Forum Seeker Snowboard. Forum built the Seeker with plenty of torsional rigidity to keep you stable at face-distorting speeds, and gave it a lightweight SuperGNAR LE 2 wood core that is stronger than balsa but just as light. Carbon in the glass laminates adds extra snap, crackle, and pop off the lip and out of turns.

I learned today that the brand "Häagen-Dazs" has no meaning whatsoever in any Scandinavian language. It is a brand that was made up by a guy in the Bronx to make his ice cream sound European and exotic. Same story goes for Motörhead, Blue Öyster Cult and Mötley Crüe.

Almost zero. You get no

Almost zero. You get no protection from the commercial masks sold to prevent flu. An american company has a chemically treated mask that works for a short period of time but even so, you can contract the virus through your eyes anyway. The majority of transmissions of the flu and cold virus come from touching infected surfaces and then rubbing your eyes or mouth anyway. Washing your hands is FAR more important to reduce flu transmitssion than those stupid masks.

I am sure they know but in

I am sure they know but in order to look like they are doing SOMETHING they resort to those fukking masks. The real issue that will cause serious flu transmission is Japan's fukked up "face time" work ethic where people come to work while sick in order to show some kind of twisted dedication to team and company. This practice is excerbated by a system that lacks proper sick leave. The guy sitting next to me had a heart attack 2 weeks ago, came to work within 5 days and has heart surgery in November. I laugh about him dying on the floor but it is purely gallows humour.

Let's see today I learned that North Shore old growth forest is really quite nice in the fog and mist, that despite being given another chance, orange flavoured chocolate still just doesn't do it for me, and that the pumpkin pie at Savory Pie Company is fantastic, if a bit pricey.

The DNA differences between

The DNA differences between head lice and body lice provide corroborating evidence that humans started wearing clothes about 72,000 years ago.

Adult and nymphal lice can survive on sheep-shearers' moccasins for up to 10 days, but microwaving the footwear for five minutes in a plastic bag will kill the lice.

wow... it truly is amazing what you can accomplish if you're a big enough pain in the ass. can't even fathom what the value of a soverign state with no tax laws or criminal code would be worth.

Would be tough to get around the globe though i presume as a citizen of Sealand. The mountaineering in Sealand would be shit, but i bet the golf ain't bad.
