yes it is a nice trail from the top with 2 or 3 push ups. There are many pieces of metal L bars supporting the hiking route which are a bit dangerous. I wouldnt ride up Donguri there is another way up.

Good fun at Oxford Falls with my buddy Damian on Saturday. Slowly trying to work my way up to the bigger stuff. Damian ate sh1t off one of the drops and will probably be out for a few weeks, so if anyone wants to go to Thredbo this weekend IM me or otherwise it's looking like another long solo trip.

Nice ride! That bike looks killer!
I so want a DH but unless someone makes a lift access course then I dont need anythign more than my santa cruz heckler.
New front forks I want some 140 fox any deals?
http://hakubapowderlodge.com/
stick with the heckler.... DH bikes are too nuts for the terrain there unless u are going to start riding Fujimi or 47 steps it up.
gear's not too pricey here given what the aussie dollar and the yen have done so if you want me to bring something up for you just shout. Best place to look is on farkin.net which has recently become rotorburn.net.... long-travel forks here http://www.farkin.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=107
also, i need my bike fixed before i get there for GW. If you get a chance you you take it to the guy behind the house? Obviously needs new cranks, may need a new BB. Last i looked the chain looked shitty too, but might just be cosmetic. If you lemme know the costs i will put it in your account.
dirtylittlecreatures
ill take it there this week then

thanks.

Thanks.
Hey is there a limit to what you want to spend on the bike?
http://hakubapowderlodge.com/
not really. it's not a great bike, it doesn't need great components. i don't care about weight on that bike too much either.
dirtylittlecreatures
ok

AUD JPY is 72. if you want me to pick something up for you let me know by the end of next week just in case it needs to be shipped to SYD.

I went for my first mtn bike ride of the year yesterday and it was epic. Very beautiful weather, and the cherry blossoms were out in full force; it was truly spectacular and made for wonderful riding. Decided to do my typical ride which takes me up into the mountains of Inaka Kansai, and then decided to explore some areas that I hadn’t been before. Found some beautiful river spots, vast rice paddies, peach orchids, and some mountain trails. In the end I went for 2.5 hours and enjoyed every second of it. After that, I went for a mile swim to recover. The pool was virtually empty right before it closed and I had a lane all to myself. Very nice Sunday for me, and prolly the most relaxing in a long, long time (cuz of work etc…) Ive been thinking about running to school in the mornings and may try it tomorrow. Ill let you know how badly I fail/feel at doing it.
ロープを潜り入れ!!
No thru hubs. Ive been looking at parts but my minute shock works pretty good.
I really want to try a fox tallas 36
http://hakubapowderlodge.com/
that fork always been thru-axle. fox has converted pretty much everything to thru-axle for 2009.

I might just stick it out this year and ave for next
the santa cruz heckler rides pretty sweet

Went to a big bike shop yesterday BUT couldnt get innner tubes for my MTN bike!!, I wanted presta valves - large tubes for fat tires, but do you think I could get them? What a pain in the ass to find them. A million mamachari dunlop valves and plenty of 26MTB tubes with schrader and Dunlop....but Presta....
finally got some, just wish the burbs had decent bike shops, only the city has decent bike shops. Anyway slicks off and fatties back on. Wide handlebar experiment over, back to the narrow bar. Wide bars sucks in trees and narrow J-roads.
car tire valves/schrader valves = American valves in Japan. thin presta valves = French and old school Dunlop valves which most mamcharis use are English Valves (which is ironic as John Dunlop was a Scot who lived in Ireland)
Satori - lets riding you bum, work that beer gut off mate!
those english valves are truly stoopid. good point though, i'm going to bring up a motherload of tubes.

Raced DH for the first time last week in the NSW state series. The groms are so good. went over the bars in all 6 practice runs and my time was shithouse. get amongst it!

Thanks SNP. The wife has already said yes to my seasons pass.

So my car is at the body shop which means i have to go everywhere by train. That basically cuts off everything in the northern beaches (which is where the goods are) and limits me to the blue mountains. it's a 2.5hr train ride each way, a fairly big ask for a 3-4hr ride, unless you just downloaded 6 new episodes of the dirtbag diaries and you have 0% chance of wrecking your car again!
Anyway, been meaning to ride this track for a while. St Helena's. Very technical towards the end where i managed to go over the bars, eject from the pedals, and do an entire frontflip and almost land on my feet. Anyway, Australian park rangers have a rule that you're not allowed to mtb on singletrack in national parks. This is one of two places in NSW where it's ok (the other is Thredbo).
Singletrack, National Park. Don't mind if i do.
The technical bits got pretty fuckin gnarly.
The parting shot. Not another soul for the whole 30k. Wish you were here.

Nice shots. I had a good afternoon in the Whistler bike park yesterday but now am sitting inside watching it pour...

Sick I wish they had 30km of trail like that here. The longest we have is the stupid yanaba slog up down.
Yanaba is such a cock tease.
http://hakubapowderlodge.com/
How bout a little TR on the sickest bike park on the planet? Or at least some shots of the monster features there.
One man wolfpack
Coming. I am with ForrestB and all his glorious camera equipment as well. We just got off the winter park and are deciding if we go x-country today or DH. Will know in 20 mins...

Interested to know what kind of course they put together for this Hakuba Challenge event in Aug. It's a JCF sanctioned event and part of the National Series so it better be worthwhile.
You can almost link from my house to Ochikura (Fischer's Secret) and back without getting on the road. With a little creativity and a chainsaw you could definitely do it. Even better would be My House -> Slog up Iwatake -> Down Iwatake via the topo in the top of this thread. Up the road to Fischers Secret -> Down and out to the 7-11.
dirtylittlecreatures
That could be done,,,,hmmmm? I own a chainsaw and I like to chop things up.
When you next come back we can recon that and I can show you the iwatake trail.
http://hakubapowderlodge.com/
sweet. hopefully in July.
dirtylittlecreatures
I did the house to the top of iwatake to your river crossing... I was planning on fishers next but was distracted and went up the river where you saw the bear. theres a trail that wanders forever up there but I got vibed out by Kamoshika's so I turned around eventually.
Then crossed the street/steep corner of the road and went up the trail beside the bridge. (mostly bug infested stream trail which dumps at fishers where we parked up the fishers road to do trail work.
I was only on the road for the passing of awesome station and the climb up fishers switchbacks.
Jeff when you in BC till?
Also Whis was epic on the weekend.... first rain day since Ive been back. Rain is pow in the bike park... traction was so god on saturday. But off to Toronto for 2 weeks in a few minutes...
it's good for the valley.
T.O dude sick family or work?
Yeah Jeff answer that question when are you coming back.
And SNP how the fuck did you get that bbq of yours?
I want one!
http://hakubapowderlodge.com/
I want one!
Costco in Chiba. only place you can get one. I think it was about Y30k. not too bad. make tsonda pick one up for you after a surfing trip.
dirtylittlecreatures
someone take a picture of said bbq. I want one!
I will be back on June 30.
We hit some bike park today after the terrain park (the double double). Not many photos because we were training in the glacier and the camera ran out of batteries after the first shot but here is a a teaser for the next installment of Bikes, Boards, Bears and Boondoggles
