The last DH race of the season is at SENA Hakusan, Ishikawa Pref. The DH race is on Saturday Oct 9, the XC race in on Sunday Oct 10. Late entries have to be postmarked by Wed Sep 29. I'm gonna race the DH. Shelley will race the XC on Sunday while i swill Yebisu from my lawn chair. The event they put on at Fujimi last week was a quality event.
Given that Ishikawa Pref is pretty hard to get too, we'll try to make the most of it and Climb Hakusan on Monday Oct 11, a national holiday (Sports Day). Hakusan is one of the 3 holy mountains in Japan (Fuji, Tateyama, Hakusan), it's a Hyakumeizan, and will be doable in a day (7hrs?).
Any interest in one, the other, or both?

Think you'll find Hakusan to be an easy day hike, probably less than the 7 hrs you mentioned (assumptions based on previous pinky TRs). Added bonus is that the leaves/leafs(?) should be changing around then, but with the drawback being the crowds, especially with it being a 3 day weekend. Good mt for some spring skiing as well.
thanks tele. website said 5hr up / 3hr down.
it's too bad there's no mountain men in the Toyama area...

Toyama's full of mountain men - in fact I think one of the guys on here, Shinobi, is from Toyama
Seriously though, I'd love nothing better than to hang out around Hakusan for a few days, unfortunately that 3 day weekend will be pretty busy for us as well.
he didn't take the bait. Haku-san is remote, that's for sure. Really cool view of tateyama and Ontake from there though. Will get some photos. The leaves are changing.

The leaves are changing. I hope you don't catch a cold in the changing of the seasons while you do your best for your company.
It has become very autumn like; how have you been? Please take care of yourself.

race report:
muddy. super fukkin muddy. Besports did a great job of putting the races on but i've never ridden a bike in that much mud. i got there late had time for just one practice run. i had to slow down massive in the flat sections to try and clean my goggles off cause i had no tearaways. it was a shitshow. i wrecked twice in the race run and i'm pretty sure i finished dead last.
