yeah, that one's built by World Trail at Mount Stromlo. Canberra almost burned down a few years back in bush fires and the local government there decided to make the best out of a shitty situation and spend 100's of 1000's to turn the burned out landscape of Mount Stromlo into a World Class MTB facility. I guess they made this very clear to the UCI and in turn the UCI awarded them the World Championships (and a few World Cup's in preparation). I'm sure the govt has made back their investment by now.
Thousands of bikes pass through those gates every weekend. and it's all free. pretty cool. it goes without saying that it be nice if local govt's in Japan would invest in these type of developments instead of additional infrastructure projects. flossing a dead horse.
Area 51, PA. Been there since I was in Highschool. Best trails I have ever seen all dug by hand. Theres some big stuff in PA. Well its big for 20"ers anyways.
Nice gov funded playground! No way uncle sam would go for that. Do they even have "ride at your own risk" signs? If I go there and bust my ass can I sue?
i'm sure they have a sign. to be honest i'm not 100% sure how/why the US has been able to go the way it has but in NZ negligence is still a concept you have to deal with but there seems to be a much firmer stance in the courts on waivers and personal risk assumption.
gnarly trick, I never get tired of watching 20"ers. But thats a box jump not a spine. Not sure if the double back has been pulled on a spine yet. You fail again
yeah... my mom gave away my bmx bike aka "Uncle Fucker" when i left for college because "it was way too small". big bummer.
you figured she woulda realized it wasn't a kids bike because it had "Uncle Fucker" written real big down the side, but nope. to charity it was destined.
I still have my Macneil from college, the thing is a tank. I want to give it away to a kid who will ride it, probably will donate it to a local comp this summer. It will be hard to part with, but it needs to be ridden.
perfect bike for Hakuba in my opinion. The new Reign X0. The airshocks help put the whole package at just 13.7kg. 18spd and the remote-adjustable seatpost makes climbing up Minekata easier. 7" of travel, chain guide, will handle Fujimi for sure. Jared Rando races Sea Otter on a Reign, so should handle Fujimi/Minekata no probs.
Not an XC race bike, but i'm slowly discovering that XC racing ain't much fun. I would have built it with Hammerschmidt, those pretty new Crank Bros wheels, and a saddle that didn't look totally stoopid but otherwise a pretty great bike. The new Specialized Enduro is pretty darn sick too.

Amen to that, XC is a waste of time when there is proper lift served goodness as far as I'm concerned. Its all about the down!
To compete in XC you almost have to be some kind of aerobic freak, to compete in DH you just have to be a little crazy, (not that DH isn't physically taxing) look at Shaun Palmer he dominated the pro circuit with a beer belly. Much more my style
that bottom berm looks nice!

Yep. 20" is still rad. Actually I think i have RAD at home if my mom didn't throw it out. I hope she still has a VCR.

I had the RAD poster on my wall for many years, mom tore it down the day I left for college, bummer.

My bmx skills sucked ass but I would still launch the biggest straight airs.
Broke the handle bars about 4 times, my old man used to get pissed!
