am being nagged for a TR so please accept my humble efforts.
After 5 days of taxing surfing before, during and after Typhoon Choi Wan I was left a little weary and with a nicely fin-gashed foot (fortunately you see it here almost a week after it happened). But with a little still left in the tank and a blank social calendar, there was time for some more.

It was the weekend of the WQS event (ch-ching) so I got up extra early to have a quick session before the competition started. Conditions were filthy – strong onshore winds and soupy seas full of leaves, minced seaweed, and delicious plastic bags. At least it wasn’t crowded. After showering off I returned to the beach to see the competitors display the finest surfing I have seen with my own two eyes, in the very same horrendous conditions.

After lunch decided to head down to Onjuku, where they were holding some kind of lifesaving competition.

The waves were micro, but equipped with longboards and funboards we were still able to have plenty of fun. Can’t really argue with balmy sunset surfing on the last weekend in September.

What’s a wave between friends?

I realised that day that 200mm really isn’t enough lens to be shooting surfing with (some of the guys at the contest were dragging around monster lenses). But after the surf, I was in too good a mood to really care. Bye bye.

lol nice pics, I love the wipe out ones, good thing you didn't put up the next pic in the sequence. It was as painful as it looks...
You will have to pass me your camera this weekend and I will do my best to take your wipe-outs too.
Hitomi in tights is ドセクシー
I wish the weather is as good as last weekend this one too, although it doesn't look so.
When will you be heading down?
Goal for this season: 30 ~ days
Currently: 20
Why is it the surfers have such good hair and most mountain dudes are fighting to save their last few stands?
well, try to lie on the waxed surfboard having a beard and then you ll find out why. lol

From bloomberg:
* FIENNES THANKS STUBBLE FOR SAVING HIS LIP
Actor JOSEPH FIENNES' lazy shaving habits helped paramedics save the actor's
bottom lip after a surfing accident in Australia.
The Shakespeare In Love star got knocked out by his board and came to
missing his lip.
He says, "The only way they could put my lip that came off back together
was because they saw where the stubble ended, so they knew where it could be
sewn back on." (KL/WNVKIM/IG)
Nice.
Anyway have you seen how much the top competitive surfers get paid? Probably worth getting the foppish haircut if the almighty sponsors like it. I mean if you are Hawaiin/Australian and happy to travel to Chiba for a surf competition... you have already started walking that path I guess. But I'm all for it if it means I can see them in action.
I am not sure I can make it this weekend. have some friends visiting and largely depends on what they would like to do.

that can't be it. you can't see those kinds of diseases without at the very least getting naked... I generally fail long before then.

Nice pix KoM, I'm going to have to pic up surfing since I'm going to be so close to Bali.
One man wolfpack
sick pics King. Is that lense a prime?
ロープを潜り入れ!!
It is not. It is Dan's 70-200mm f/4L. In all honesty it's not a long enough lens for the distance I was shooting from and those pics are heavily cropped - if you were to see the full size versions you would unfortunately find quite a lot of pixel detail.
