it hasn't been going as simple as it's supposed to be. keep on top of the forecast, look for something to climb, climb it, ride it, have fun, drink beer. you can blame the forecast but the the problem is with the "looking". looking for objectives that might go instead of those that will fer sure. whether it's wind, stability, darkness, bears, or viz, there's been a lot of backing off so far this season. so it was time to do the simple thing and go have fun shreddin'.
Hakkoda is simple. one tram. no runs. no ropes. no patrol. no resort. no line ups. it was good to cut the excess, be happy, and climb a mountain for the first time in many months.

Nice outfit! Is that first pic airbrushed or something or are you using some kind of new moisturizer? You don't look a day over 45 in that photo

Did you go to the sen-nin-buro?
Great photos! I want to go somewhere with snow monsters sometime. They look other worldly.
As for Hakkoda, any good lines, any steepness? More of a place to tour?
ninjaman - i hate you.
sock_monkey - no, we didn't. we wanted to but i got drunk and then we didn't.
shingen - it's not a 'big line' kind of place. there's definitely some steep mini golf and some pillow and other hokkaido-esque features but everything empties into the flats. good tree lines maintain a nice pitch right under the tram but they are pretty narrow, have to keep the speed checked. imagine niseko. then imagine niseko without runs or people.
