I am upgrading the forum module thanks to the hard work of a third party (unrelated to me or PN, the 3rd party is out there in internet land).

For the time being I will use the default style, with member info on the left hand side. Later I will apply a style that has member info above each post (eg, layered, like the PN forum was before, and like you see in TGR etc) - this style uses far less horizontal space and allows for bigger photos in posts. Please give me a bit of time to dress up the 'layers' style to suit the appearance of PN.

Very cool. It might be delegated to a 3rd party but we know how much time you have put into this forum. Cheers for the hard work!

I like the new style. I also prefer it less flashy, but I cant say its flashier, just more, ummm, user friendly? Or maybe just more similar to other forums that I am used to. Regardless, nice progression.

Thanks for the support.

Thanks for the support.

Note: for those with low screen resolution widths, like 1024px, you may find that larger images will overlap the right hand side boarder of the forum until I revert to the 'layered' style I mentioned above. This will certainly be a problem if you are not logged in, which causes a login box to appear on the left hand side of every screen and thus even more horizontal space is taken up.

I would never become a web designer unless everyone in the world used the same browser and had the same screen resolution.

ps - I didn't delegate, just waited for some updates to the forum module were made by members of the Drupal community. The entire CMS platform (Drupal) that PN runs on is GPL Open Source, so lots of people contribute modules and add-ons... and we use a fair few of them. I have donated a few dollars to the paypal accounts of a one or two very helpful module coders that make their work available.

Ok, its now or never

Ok, its now or never (once winter starts really soon): As you can see I have reverted to a stacked layout as I said I would. It's pretty vital that we keep the stacked theme with user avatar and info above each post, not on the side. This gives heaps more valuable screen width for wider pictures. As I make this change I also want to make theme changes. as currently it is a default colourless theme as you can see.

I need to know how the forum should be themed. What colours? In keeping with the rest of the site I think the background should remain white. What about the other elements in the forum table?

Help me. I'm not a friggin one man band with endless free time.

There are three main pages that need formatting:

1. the forum top is one big table that needs borders and a colour for the heading background
http://poachninja.com/forum

2. same goes for the sub-forums. What ever style we use for the forum top, we use for the sub-forums
http://poachninja.com/forums/snow-forum

3. the individual threads have a lot of elements that need styling: http://poachninja.com/forums/snow-forum/anyone-with-dirt-tenjin
a. the box around the user info: what colour?
b. the box that contains the title of each comment: colour?

That kind of stuff. Give me some ideas and I will implement in CSS code, then we can go from there

Red is gone?

I hope so. I'm closing because the red is killing me.

The red was there to annoy

The red was there to annoy people into suggesting a better colour. But I decided not to be a dickhead about it. Obviously you missed the green, pink, red and purple?

if we are going to stick with the orange and blue poachninja.com logo at the top can we use the main orange and blue from that? according to my 6th grade art teacher, orange and blue are complimentary colors. given how crap the red looks can we try blue for backgrounds and orange for trim? thanks buddy.

Good idea about orange. The

Good idea about orange. The most obvious element of the forum style to tinker with is the light blue bar at the top of each post and the white text within it.

yeah, missed those colors. The red has actually kept me away. It wasn't until I stirred up this thread to figure out why it was back.

I feel like I'm about to seize when opening threads. No shit.

Blue was fine. I'm closing again because I honestly feel like I'm about to seize. I won't log in for another week now.

Good god.

Do you also suck your thumb? Wont log on for a week because precious doesn't like colours?

FACTS: The red was there for 30 minutes over a week ago. Refresh your browser or something. The forum is 100% blue.

No, I don't suck my thumb.

No, I don't suck my thumb.

I logged in yesteday, checked a few threads and had to leave because of the red.

I logged in today and it was red again. Came here, read your suggestion to refresh... refreshed and it was blue.

How am I supposed to know that I'm supposed to refresh after logging in? I've never encountered an issue like this one... perhaps it's a safari thing? I'll log out now, and login...

*edit. logged in and it's fine.

BTW, I wasn't being sarcastic, so there's no reason for the "precious" comments about not visiting sites because of not liking the color. It's not that I don't like it, it's that I honestly feel a seizure coming and immediately dim my monitor.
