I agree, save for TR's. I think TR's are worthy of points as they bring stoke to the forum. Is it possible to give points for TRs only? Maybe something like 5 points? The same for pics - 5 points/pic? 10 points/pic? I think your idea for points for wiki and blog sounds like a good idea.

By far the easiest and reliable way to get points for TR's is to have TR's in a separate forum category to the general Snow forum. The other method is to leave the TR's in the main snow forum and require users to select the special, single-purpose, tag of "TR" for only Trip Reports. That would work fine until someone selects it for any new thread in any section of the forum thus earning TR points that they didn't deserve. There is nothing to stop that from happening besides setting up a report with a link to it. The report would show all forum threads with the special TR tag and who made them. The link to the report would be available to all members and if you are bored you could check it regularly to bust someone who has lied and tagged a thread about nothing with TR.

TR's in their own forum box keep the stoke in one place and the general snow chatter in another. I am happy with that.

That sounds fine. Wiki should get wicked points as well. Nekkid pics of gf's etc. also should earn points.

Karma works well. Points too. How bout by colored belts like in Jujitsu and Karate? I dont think it really matters though.

Why do we need points? I hate that about other sites. ah you have 4000 point more than anyone else so you must be king or etc. I say keep the points post count hidden. Admin can keep post counts or etc.

Admin, please deduct points from Tsonda and FT... Seriously the reason we need points and others do not is to do with preventing the wiki being taken over by spammers and advertisers. There is no other reason

I dont mind if you turn my points to -1,000,000. What FT says is that we don't need the points displayed in the users profile. Make it an internal system not viewed by everyone.

And I aggree with what Tsu said. Ive seen it on TGR, SJ etc when people use post counts to explain something. We really only need the admin to see them.

To save me the trouble of setting who can and cant see them and I just turned the whole points system off. New users cant edit the Wiki without Admin adding them to the list of Wiki editors. If someone wants to edit the Wiki, they will ask.

I just thought it was a disscussion. I perfer not to have the points shown but I understand the logic behind the points. I must say the site seems to be getting better. I cant wait till winter comes!
