Its a set up

The thread starter has almost zero posts and joined last month. His written style is ridiculous- zero soul, zero feeling. It reeks of fake. He is either trying to pump the welovejapan servicer(and failed), or, SJ themselves are trying to set up a conversation about bakcountry in the hope that they can appear relevant to the gaper-come-freerider.

How often is that tree referred to as the Joshua Tree? I have done it a few times, so has one other person - from whom I picked up the saying (it was Danz).

more than that, this

more than that, this particular post draw my attention.

Hi Rag-Doll, thank you for the advice, sounds like you have spent many a good day up there!

You've got me interested, though, what happens if you somehow ride away from the resort-side? Do you ultimately come out to some sort of river crossing or something?

I wish there was some sort of guide or something showing all this!

If you actually stride to far down on the northeast facing slopes behind Nakaone, you do end up at a nasty river crossing.
Its the valley below the C4 point of the kagura topo map I have on the wiki.
That area is not visible from the resort, which rises the question, how can someone thats a complete beginner in the BC knows about it. Or is it a coincidence someone that has no idea about BC ask about it.

And how about the quote about a "guide or something" (wiki) showing all this.
Maybe I am being paranoid here or too much into conspiracy theories, but it feels like a bate.

yep

I'm somewhere above 75% sure its a bait. Less than 90%

The welovejapan + muikabochi photos + SJ look at our BC savvy + the scripted OP all seem to overlap in the direction of a set-up.

Even the welovejapan error was likely intentional so as to not seem obviously touting, knowing it would quickly get queried and corrected - bringing even more attention the the brand.

We also know that SJ mods or their boogies read poachninja.

Its a promo (failed) for them - very likely.

Its an antagonistic attempt to demonstrate that no matter how good PN content, it is difficult to get that point across to the target audience when SJ believes they control the spigot of info flow to the English speaking snow community in Japan. That's a less likely ego play, but still possible. Fact is their (SJ) target audience of BC beginners hardly exists (they even had to set one up) and their authority on BC travel is... MamaBear. So demand and supply of info was one big FAIL. I'm about 60% sure this scenario is at play. Trying to be something you are not frequently leads to looking silly.

SJ can only slow down the rate at which PN becomes well known. Eventually it will have enough exposure, there is nothing they can do about it and any attempts to quash it will only end up hurting SJ.

I recommend to the PN owners that we email every Pension that pays to advertises with SJ and offer them the same placement on PN for free, in the forums, in the wiki, with links in their signatures.

Although I do agree with most of the things you say above, I don't think its a good idea to start advertising people for free. (other than Hakubapoderlodge maybe Sticking out tongue)

Plus I would prefer to see PN planing its actions, regardless of what SJ does or is planing to do. I said it before and I will say it 100 times more, lets mind our own business. Its on our best interest.
